چکیده

AbstractOil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch (OPEFB) is a type of solid waste from the palm oil processing industry. The components OPEFB include cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin. has large cellulose content, so it possesses potential to be used as bioplastic material. purpose this research was examine stages bioplastics' production process its characterization. content raw material during isolation which includes hydrolysis, delignification, pulping, bleaching are 39.59%, 56.00%, 59.85%, 61.48%, 68.20%, respectively. Cellulose produces α-cellulose 97.87%. resulting acetate an acetyl 25.93%. bioplastics were then characterized determine effect acetate, starch, chitosan, glycerol on physical mechanical properties plastics. results characterization biodegradability, water absorption, density with values 78.73%, 38.26%, 1.2% tensile strength, elongation, modulus elasticity 0.729 MPa, 4.13%, 17.5 functional groups in bioplastics, O-H, C-H, C-O, C=O, N-H, produced mixing between glycerol.

Synthesis and Characterization of Cellulose Acetate from TCF Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch Pulp

Cellulose acetate (CA) was successfully synthesized by the acetylation of TCF cellulose pulp from oil palm empty fruit bunches (OPEFB) at room temperature, using acetic anhydride as the acetylating agent and acetic acid as the solvent in the presence of sulfuric acid/sodium bisulfate as catalysts. Degree of substitution (DS) was controlled by the variables of acetylation time and acetic anhydri...

Isolation, characterization and application of a cellulose-degrading strain Neurospora crassa S1 from oil palm empty fruit bunch

BACKGROUND Oil palm empty fruit bunch (EFB) is a lignocellulosic waste produced in palm oil industry. EFB mainly consists of cellulose, hemicellulose (mainly xylan) and lignin and has a great potential to be reused. Converting EFB to fermentable sugars and value-added chemicals is a much better choice than treating EFB as waste. RESULTS A cellulase-producing strain growing on oil palm empty f...

Microstructure Modelling of Silica Bodies from Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch (OPEFB) Fibres

Investigating the mechanical behaviour of silica bodies in oil palm empty fruit bunches (OPEFB) is important to improve the process of silica body removal. This study will assist in providing an understanding of the role of OPEFB as a bioresource material for the bioconversion process. The microstructure of silica bodies/protrusions on the OPEFB fibre surface was modelled using the finite eleme...

Structural changes of oil palm empty fruit bunch (OPEFB) after fungal and phosphoric acid pretreatment.

Oil palm empty fruit bunch (OPEFB) was pretreated using white-rot fungus Pleurotus floridanus, phosphoric acid or their combination, and the results were evaluated based on the biomass components, and its structural and morphological changes. The carbohydrate losses after fungal, phosphoric acid, and fungal followed by phosphoric acid pretreatments were 7.89%, 35.65%, and 33.77%, respectively. ...

Microcrystalline Cellulose (MCC) From Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch (EFB) Fiber via Simultaneous Ultrasonic and Alkali Treatment

In this study, microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) was extracted from oil palm empty fruit bunch (EFB) cellulose which was earlier isolated from oil palm EFB fibre. In order to isolate the cellulose, the chlorination method was carried out. Then, the MCC was prepared by simultaneous ultrasonic and alkali treatment from the isolated α-cellulose. Based on mass balance calculation, the yields for MCC...
